Q1: Which is better range hood, ducted or ductless?
A: Range hoods should be ducted to the outside of the home. While duct-free filters trap some of the grease and odors from normal cooking, the humidity, smoke and heat will all be re-circulated back into the home. If the duct-free filters are not regularly replaced, eventually the grease and odor catching effect will no longer protect your home from impurities. Especially, high BTU gas cooking equipment should always be ducted to the outside of the home.

Q3: What do the CFM and Sone ratings Mean?
A: CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute of exhausting air flow. The higher the number, the greater the amount of air that is exhausted using the Range Hood.

A Sone is an internationally recognized unit of loudness. Sones are a linear measure like inches. Doubling the sone value is equivalent to doubling the loudness. To get a sense of what one sone represents, one Sone is equivalent to the sound of a quiet refrigerator in a quiet kitchen. Typically, the Sone level is measured at maximum CFM (speed), however, some newer products are also being tested at normal CFM (speed) settings to provide consumers with typical sound level information.

Q4: What type of duct is best for venting a range hood?
A: Range hoods must be vented using metal duct. Given a choice between flexible metal duct and smooth metal duct, go with the smooth. The ridges found in flexible metal duct create turbulence and will diminish airflow.

NEVER use 4" dryer duct or any plastic duct on a range hood installation. The minimum size duct allowed on most range hoods is 3 ?" by 10" which is equivalent to 6" round. More powerful hoods require even larger duct sizes up to 10" round. Consult the specifications for the model you have chosen.

When remodeling and changing hood and cooking equipment types, do not reduce the ductwork size to less than the size specified for the range hood. Decreasing the duct size restricts the performance of the range hood ventilator.

Q5: Can I exhaust my hood into my attic instead of out the roof or wall?
A: No. You should never exhaust air into spaces within walls, ceilings, attics, crawl spaces or garages. The humidity and grease collect in the space.

Q6: How high should I mount my hood above my stove?
A: Most common installations require a range of 18" - 24" between the bottom of the hood and the top of the cook top. This will provide the best capture area for cooking impurities. For high capacity ventilators, like Sakura kitchen range hoods, we recommend the distance from the cooking surface to the bottom of the hood should be 28" - 30".

Q7: Is a cabinet above the hood required to mount the product?
A: Yes, all Sakura range hoods require cabinet for mounting.

Q8: How often should I clean my filters?
A: The aluminum mesh grease filters can be soaked in hot water with dish detergent, approximately every month depending on the amount of usage. Wash often if your cooking style generates greater grease like frying foods or wok cooking. Each filter can be re-used approximately for one year. If you don't want to wash it, please change it every two to three months depending on your cooking habits. Also, you can purchase filters in several places, please see Sakura Dealer Location.

Q9: Why should I use SAKURATM instead of just any range hood?
A: SAKURATM is design and built to ensure the health of your family and the indoor environment of the house you live in and preserve the value of your house. It integrates power, efficiency, low maintenance, style, and affordability. An inefficient hood fan can expose you and your family to potential health hazard from cooking. SAKURATM's innovative and engineered design always keeps in-home air pollution at bay and ensures consistent fresh air circulation. A comparable high-end range hood with similar or lower performances normally retails around $350 to $500. With SAKURATM, you don't have to spend a fortune to get the best value for your family and your house.

Q10: How is exhaust power measured?
A: Exhaust power is usually reflected by measuring the rate of airflow in CFM, Cubic Feet per Minute.

Q11: What is "Twister Effect"? How does it benefit me?
A: Imagine how a tornado cleanses the area it travels. SAKURATM produces such an effect through the innovative design and engineered integration of low-turbulence exhaust chamber, dual non-stick turbo blow wheels and dual heavy-duty centrifugal motors. Steam, heat and odor are seized and vented outside instantly after they are generated. Nothing escapes. You don't have to keep the fan running long after the cooking done.

Q12: Why does SAKURATM blower outperform others?
A: Each SAKURATM blower unit consists of dual thermo-loaded heavy duty centrifugal motors, dual turbo-type turbines completely coated with non-stick Teflon material, and noise-reducing exhaust chamber. The integration of power, cleanness and quietness is best embodied in a SAKURATM range hood.

Q13: How do I maintain my SAKURATM?
A: SAKURATM is designed for low maintenance. Almost no maintenance is required for mild cooking. Wiping the shell with a damp cloth after cooking is sure to keep your SAKURATM bright and shine for years to come. Wipe fan blades with warm soapy cloth and wipe clean. Vane guards can be hand wash or machine wash, grease draining cups recommand hand wash. The frequency of cleaning depends on you cooking habits.

Q14: Where can I buy SAKURATM and parts?
A: SAKURATM range hoods parts are available at our dealers include Rona, Coast Wholesale Appliances Ltd., Trail Appliances, Home Hardware Store, and many other local Chinese and East Indian retail outlets.. For parts, services and more product information, please call 604-271-2288. You also can check our Sakura Dealer Location for the closet dealer.

Q15: What should I watch for when installing my SAKURATM?
A: Be sure to read installation manual carefully. In particular, watch for the distance between the cook top and the lowest point of the range hood. Recommended distance is at lease 26", yet not exceeding 30". We use more powerful and heavy-duty parts and our hoods are much heavier than other brands. It's strongly recommended that you have a pair of extra hands to assist you if you choose to install the unit by yourself.

Q16: What sort of ductwork does my SAKURATM need?
A: It's only when you vent the cooking pollutants outside that you have a truly healthy kitchen. All SAKURATM models require outdoor venting. SAKURATM hood fans stand greater pressure than most other fans and longer ductwork is acceptable. However, we produce shortest and most direct ductwork for most effective exhaust. SAKURATM Mode R727 comes in one top 6" dia. Round duct with built-in damper. If you wish to have a model with more ducting options, please check Products or consult our office 604-271-2288 to find out more about other SAKURATM models (e.g. Model R747 has three ducting options-top 6" dia. Round duct and 3-1/8" x 10" rectangular duct and rear 3-1/8" X 10" rectangular duct.)
